What to do in Batangas
Visit the Taal Volcano
Tagaytay might be the first place most people associate with the Taal Volcano, but this famous Batangas tourist spot is actually located in Batangas! So why just take a picture of this scenic spot when you can actually visit, hike, and boat in and around the area?
Multiple local tour guides offer packages for visiting Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, but you can start here.
Try horseback riding
Cars are sooooo Metro Manila. Get out of your vehicle and try horseback riding for a different thrill! This is transportation that puts you in touch with nature.
Hike a mountain
If you’d like to explore new places on your own two feet, skip the horse and go hiking instead! Aside from Taal Volcano, Batangas is blessed with many other hiking trails which means you can even pick one based on your experience level!

Where to eat in Batangas
A certified Batangas classic, Johanna’s Grill is a must-visit for any foodie or food fighter! Aside from serving up “the best babyback ribs in town” (they serve their ribs by the bilao!), Johanna’s Grill also serves up fresh seafood that Batangas is known for — from Grilled Tuna to Sizzling Salmon Belly!
Check out their Facebook page for more details.
A local favorite that’s steadily gaining popularity among patrons outside of Batangas, Casa Marikit is a lovely restaurant that offers (surprisingly!) authentic Italian dishes! Enjoy their Minestrone soup, Vongole pasta, and handmade pizzas in an incredible ambience.
El Cocinero by Chef Arnaldo
Want a romantic dinner by the beach? Then El Cocinero is the spot for you! It goes without saying that their seafood dishes are fresh and expertly-made, but we’d also recommend trying out their Ibizan cocktails!
Fun fact: El Cocinero has branches in Muntinlupa and Tagaytay!
Kainan sa Dalampasigan
Another local favorite, Kainan sa Dalampasigan should definitely be on your itinerary if you’re planning on going to Canyon Cove! Located along the way to the beach resort, Kainan sa Dalamasigan serves up the amazing seafood that you’ve come to expect from Batangas but with a much more local and modest vibe than the other restaurants on this list.

El Torro German Restaurant
Yes, you read that right — El Torro is a German restaurant — and is another unexpected surprise hidden in Batangas! They actually serve an international menu of Filipino, Thai, Indonesian, and Korean dishes but it’s their German specialties like sausages, schnitzels, and (of course) German beer that they’re best known for.
